Thompson Boat Center is located at the intersection of Virginia Avenue and Rock Creek Parkway, up from the Kennedy Center and across from the Watergate Apartments.
Parent volunteers - for your work assignment you must report to Thompson's. Leave home in plenty of time to allow for parking, signing in, and moving to your job site.
1. Take I-66 East.
2. Cross Theodore Roosevelt Bridge and make sure you are in the left lane as you approach the end of the bridge.
3. Take the E Street exit off the bridge, but stay in the far left lane as you exit. You will bear left around towards the Kennedy Center.
4. Again, get in the far left lane. The road will bear left and come to a "t". Go Left.
5. Immediately get into the right lane, and turn right onto Virginia Avenue. Thompson's will be directly ahead of you.
6. Once you are on Virginia Avenue, you will again want to be in the left lane. Cross over Rock Creek Parkway into the TBC parking lot.
7. If you are coming later there maybe little or no parking available, so you might want to try the next set of directions.
Alternate Directions:
1. From Virginia, take Key Bridge and turn right onto M Street.
2. Drive about 6 blocks to Wisconsin Ave.
3. Turn right onto Wisconsin, go down to the foot of the hill where Wisconsin ends at K Street (the Finish Line is straight ahead across the park).
4. Turn left onto K Street and go one block to the Washington Harbor complex. There are several parking garages and a large lot available nearby. If the regatta is already in full swing, you should not expect any parking space in Thompson's lot, so plan on paying for parking.
5. From Washington Harbor, walk through the complex (or walk down 30th St.) to the waterfront.
6. Turn left to go toward the fenced outdoor storage and Thompson's Boat Center. The Regatta headquarters is in front of the far section of Thompson's, just past the office, at the top of the launch ramp.

Occoquan Information:
The racing course is on the Occoquan Reservoir, and the Regatta headquarters, finish line, and grandstand are on the northern shore in Sandy Run Park. From the headquarters to the finish line/grandstand area is a good hike, but van shuttles are available for ~$1.00 each way from the parking area to get you there if you don't want to walk.
Everyone must pay the parking/entrance fee (~$10.00). You will see the Upper parking lots to the right and left. After parking, to reach headquarters, launch area, finish line, and grandstand, continue on foot down the hill (portable toilets will be on your right).
As you approach the water, Regatta headquarters with a Volunteer sign-in table will be on your right, next to the concession stand. Sign in on arrival (it goes faster if you can tell them your job number). Sign-in will include signing an insurance waiver. You will then get instructions to your job location. Someone will be there to give you on-the-job training.
